Bombay, My First Love

To the city of restless delight

My dearest Bombae, city of restless delight
Where concerts roar loud in the shimmering night
Where neon lights sparkle on roads never still
And lovers find magic in every high hill

Your nightlife is fever, your heartbeat is strong
Every corner holds laughter, a dance or a song
From Colaba to Bandra, the music won’t tire
The air feels electric, all passion and fire

Kaali peelis glide through the rush and the rain
Their tyres hum tender like a soft sweet refrain
Auto drivers chat with a grin and a prayer
They curse and they guide yet always do care

Policemen stand steady through chaos and heat
Guarding dreams on each footpath and choked little street
They watch over millions who chase what they crave
In a city that teaches us how to be brave

Your locals are lifelines through joy and through strife
Each carriage a story, a theatre of life
Strangers become family from Churchgate to Andheri
Sharing hope in the silence between sun and train

The BEST buses lumber with pride as they go
Slow giants of comfort through traffic and flow
They cradle the city like mothers of steel
Their soft rumbling engines a lullaby feel

Oh your weather is thunder, your weather is tease
Some days blazing fire, some days gentle breeze
Rains kiss the pavements then drown every lane
Yet somehow they wash away struggle and pain

Mumbai my muse, my forever affair
No goodbye feels final, you hold me right there
You are chaos and beauty, a challenge, a call
My city, my heartbeat, my home through it all
